| Itinerary: |
The Shady Grove Bluegrass Festival is a three-day festival held just outside of Nanton, Alberta.
Bluegrass music is hillbilly music and usually involves guitars, banjos, fiddles, harmonicas, spoons, drums, and of course, voices. This festival is as much about participation as it is about listening to concerts. There will be workshops for various instruments, gospel hour on Sunday morning, a band scramble and a contest known as "Bluegrass Idol" with the grand prize being a three-figure contract to perform at next year's festival.
Featured artists this year include: Shearwater, Brian Bowers, Headwater, Wild Rose Express and Bix Mix Boys.
Times:
Friday from 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Saturday from 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Sunday 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Ticket prices:
Three-Day package $40.00 in advance or $45.00 at the gate. For just Friday it is $20.00, Saturday it is $25.00 or Sunday it is $15.00.
Kids (17 & under) are FREE when accompanied by an adult
Foothills Bluegrass Music Association memberships $20.00 / FBMA members save $5.00 on all ticket prices
Camping:
$25.00 per unit (includes unlimited jamming)
