Mount Royal University's Shakespeare in the Park is one of Calgary's most anticipated events. Since 1987, thousands of people have come to see the Bard's classics performed in the great outdoors each summer.

The play synopsis: Much Ado About Nothing's five acts follow two pairs of lovers. While the romance between Claudio and Hero forms the main plot, the action is in fact mostly concerned with their counterparts Beatrice and Benedick whose sharp tongued wit provides the energy and drive for this hilarious battle of the sexes.

The play was most likely first performed in 1598 or 1599. Its style shares many features of the modern romantic comedy and it remains one of Shakespeare's most enduringly popular works.

Suggested donation to keep the program running is between $10-20. Minimum donation for this group is $10 each, please.

Please note your CCC Coordinator may reschedule this event if it is raining (or snowing or hailing!).

Required Items to Bring:
Cash for admission and something to sit on, like a blanket. Portable-chair sitters will be asked to sit in areas where they do not obscure views.
Recommended Items to Bring:
It can cool off a lot in the evening, so pants and a light jacket are recommended.

If you aren't familiar with the play, you may want to print off the synopsis & character summary from www.sparknotes.com.

Also, bug spray & cash for snacks (drinks, ice cream).

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Meet in front of the west doors of Eau Claire market, right outside of the Good Earth Cafe, and near The Barley Mill and Joey Tomatoes restaurants.
