Itinerary:

WOW! A summer opera series. Metropolitan Opera is offering encore performances of some of their most popular broadcasts from the past couple of years. Evening performances at $10 a ticket and apparently children are free!

Their first offering of Romeo and Juliet is the very first one I saw a couple of years and is the performance that got me hooked.

So, come out and give it a try! I dare ya!

The actual show starts at 6:30 PM and has a running time of 185 minutes. Look for our group near the pizza kiosk at the top of the escalator. And if the audience is ANYTHING like the Saturday morning crowd, you'll want to get there early or risk not getting a seat. We'll be going into the theatre no later than 6:10 PM. If you're running late, give my cell phone a call and I'll try and hold a seat for you.

Synopsis:

Gounod: Romeo et Juliette

Cast: Roberto Alagna, Anna Netrebko, Nathan Gunn

Who better to portray the world’s most famous lovers than the charismatic duo, Anna Netrebko and Roberto Alagna? Gounod’s ultra-sensual interpretation of Shakespeare is an ideal vehicle for their unique and incandescent appeal. The irresistible Nathan Gunn is Mercutio and Plácido Domingo presides on the podium.
